Set Alarms
Friday Fun For You — this weekend.
Alarm yourself!
On Saturday or Sunday morning, set alarms on your phone. Simple. With a twist. For each alarm you set, make the “label” feature (I have an iPhone, I am not sure what the equivalent feature is on an Android) tell you what to do at the random times you pick.
As an example: 1:11 AM Read a poem.
That’s it, do the thing, then go back to your regular day! This might all feel much more fun than scrolling through social media. Let’s test it out!
Here are some additional examples, just in case being a little bit goofy eludes you.
Stretch your face into a smile.
Listen to a song that you know will make you cry.
Drink water like a toddler (spill a little or a lot).
Look out a window.
Notice one beautiful thing.
Wiggle. Yes, now. Wiggle.
Step outside for three breaths.
Text a kind word to a person with an “L” in their name.
Pet something living.
Put your phone down (after this).
Go outside with only socks on. Walk around a bit. Return home.

Oh, and one last thing, you can keep these goofy alarms or delete them. You choose your fun!
Then there is the “bottom stuff” below.
Enjoy your weekend! I know I will, it’s my birthday on Sunday. -Suzanne

Wednesdays belong to The Hermitess Papers — a serialized book, revealed one week at a time. Illustrations and writing, what’s not to like?
Paid subscribers receive new Hermitess installments each Wednesday.
If these newsletters make you think, smile, or feel a little less alone in your own creative messiness and missives, you can toss $5 or more into Suzanne’s hat—this is a one-time gift (not a subscription). It’s an internet version of wild audience applause, a virtual hug, or a dispatch to me:
